What I mean by Democracy and Dictatorship

I don't understand what democracy we are defending or talking about. I am extremely sorry to say that India has never been socially a democratic country. Consequently, economic and political democracies turn to be meaningless in absence of social democracy. In nut cell, if it is said that some privileged sections of the society and nation are using present democracy (which is totally contrary in its nature, soul and practice) as armor to play with the sentiments and the life of more than eighty five percent citizens of India for their narrow and selfish interests, will not be free from truth, that is why it is hard to digest by the advocates of democracy.
It does not mean I am supporter of emergency. I strongly condemn whatever had happened in the name of democracy. But I cannot stop myself condemning the fraud democracy that is being advocated as the essential tool of justice, human rights and dignity for which the call of Activists, artists, film makers, journalists, researchers, scholars and writers is solicited.
I feel, we need to learn first what the democracy is in its real essence and try to make it free from the slavery of its masters who are no way less than any autocrat or a dictator or imposers of any form of emergency.
It will be the true mission for the eradication of tyranny that we talk of in the name of emergency. It will enable even the common man to enjoy the democracy that we can proud of.
Let’s join hands to establish the real democracy instead of blaming the painful and tinted memories emergency.
