The Question of Identity

The question of identity has always been a very crucial question for the aboriginals of this country. They have been deprived of their glorious identity. That is why, today they are known by thousands of malice castes as Choohde-Chamar (Dalits/ oppressed class of India). To overcome the stigma of caste and hatred associated with them, they keep on converting in different religions and sects that claim to be free from all discriminations and inequalities but in vain. Where ever these aboriginals go, the devil of the caste follows them. Needless to say, it is none but the caste Hindus who are responsible for this all as they seem to have no existence without caste. It is very painful to say that Christianity and Islam, being the part of Indian society are not free from the infectious graded system and discrimination. It is a natural urge that the victims of caste must find their roots in history, literature and other sources as religious texts. I also ransacked these sources critically and reached at the conclusion that the so called Dalit Samaj i.e. scheduled castes and scheduled tribes are aboriginals of India and must be known as Moolniwasi Aajivak Samaj. The term ‘Aajivak’ is derived from Hindi means a person/ society whose actions have always been based on industrious and righteous deeds. In other words, it can be said that the followers of Lokayat are known as ‘Aajivak’. Sources clearly indicate that scientific and peaceful attitude of Aajivak community have always kept them in the centre of activities. Consequently, they inherited highly prosperous, peaceful and progressive culture thousands years back i.e. Harappan Culture and civilization. History and archaeological sources endow with strong witness to justify that Aryans intrusion with corrupt, cruel and criminal practice forced the Moolniwasi Aajivak Samaj, presently known as Dalit Samaj, to be the victims of caste discrimination, torture and hatred. Worldwide movement based on Dr. Ambedkarite philosophy is up to find logical and authentic results through literature, contemporary debates, researches and other social movements. 'Aajivak' is one of the most reliable and acceptable identity that is capable to fight with the devil of caste and hatred. It also solves the puzzle of supremacy i.e. hypocrisy of caste Hindus. It also paves the way for peace, progress and prosperity essential for an individual, society and nation. I humbly submit, at least the victims of caste discrimination and hatred must give a serious look to Aajivak culture as one of the best option of Identity, for it does not harm any of the existing faith that Dr. Ambedkar, the champion of human rights and social justice has advocated to solve the problems of identity of the opressed class.
